So much has happened since we last spoke!  In addition to playing many regional festivals, we embarked on a very successful west coast tour, traveling all the way down the coast. We had shows in Salem, Redding, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. We were greeted by wonderful audiences and got to play at some amazing venues. We are so excited to do another tour in the new year, this time (fingers crossed) with our full band.. We have also introduced two new members into the band! … [Read more...]

The Classroom Sessions

LS picture

On our Midwest tour last month, we had the great privilege of playing in a classroom in Lawrence, Kansas.  Sounds pretty random, eh? A Seattle band on an Illinois/Michigan-centered tour driving all the way out to Kansas for a show at a high school?  The back-story puts these pieces together, and pays tribute to the world-shrinking power of the internet and the fantastic music coming out of Seattle right now. Jeff Kuhr teaches film and video production at Lawrence High School.  He is also a … [Read more...]

One Year Anniversary

nov2-flyer

One year ago today we played our first show together.   We'd met and started collaborating a few weeks before, and the opportunity of a Tuesday night show at the Skylark suddenly presented us with urgent tasks:  Pick a band name, build a setlist, and try to get some friends out to the show.  In the process of preparing for that show, jamming quickly became rehearsing. So go ahead and press play before you read on! I finished writing "All Along" in the fall of 2005.  Simple, sad, and sweet, it was one of those songs that developed over a long period of time and the sum of many experiences and perspectives, as opposed to one particular event.  My band at the time didn't really know what to do with it, … [Read more...]

It Begins…

The-Local-Strangers-at-Skylark-11-300x295

Well, here we go!  Aubrey and I met a few short months ago.  Now we have a band, an upcoming EP, a website... even buttons!  It's already felt like a bit of a ride - and we haven't even gone anywhere yet.  First there was getting the Skylark booking and pushing ourselves to have a full set ready.  Did it - 9 songs, 7 originals, a few of them brand new.  Then we pushed ourselves to record right away before Aubrey went on a long trip.  Did it - got 6 world debut songs down on tape, the raw … [Read more...]
